To start he woke me up at midnight for a tradition that was started last year on our road trip back from Chicago, gas station ding-dong cake! He went to the gas station down the street and had a very weird conversation with the guy behind the counter. Apparently the gas guy is taking his wife to the casino for her birthday because he didn't want to spend that much money. Who wants to bet that he spends more money gambling than he did on the whole trip for her?
Anyway, he got me 1 pack of candles...boo for being 24, even worse when I think about next year when he will have to buy 2 boxes of candles just to get the extra one for the tiny processed cup cake that was all ready straining to hold 24. But it was really sweet to be woken up by the happy birthday song and our new tradition.
After we had one of the two, it was back to sleep but once again Nate surprised me with breakfast in bed. So sweet.
Nate then took me to get pumpkins. We went to a place called Deanna Rose Childrens Farmstead. It was so cute, relaxing, fun, and free. When you get to the entrance the woman at the gate said that we had to do two things before we entered, one to smile and the second was to waddle like a duck. We did, and let me tell you Nate is actually a good duck impersonator.
Once inside they had so many things for the children to do, and me and Nate. They have a fishing pond, barn where they show you how to milk cows, tepees, a garden, playground, and a petting zoo.
My favorite animal was this fluffy, fluffy bunny. I WANT ONE!
We then took a hay ride into their little pumpkin patch. They had games, a corn cave, and a slide.
The trick about picking a pumpkin is the same as picking a car, it picks you, you don't pick it. After 20 min we finally found our pumpkins. The next step is figuring out what we are going to carve in them, but more on that once we figure it out.
Once we got home we took Todd the dog to the dog park, he is getting braver and almost swam in the water.
Next, we got ready for dinner in down town Kansas City. Nate took me to Skies, the revolving restaurant on top of the Hilton next to Crown Center. It was so peacful and the food was really good.
To finish the evening Nate and I stayed up until midnight and ate the second gas station cup cake. It was a great way to start my 24th year of life.
Aw, LOVE it! It sounds like Nate is off to a good start at celebrating his wife's birthday! :) I've heard Skies is really awesome. I want to see photos of the pumpkins when you're done!
